Archaeologists Dig in Darlington, Discover Native American Artifacts
Archaeologists with the University of South Carolina and The Department of Natural Resources have discovered aproximately 200,000 Native American artifacts at the Johannes Kolb Site in Darlington.
It’s the 14th year for excavations at the site where researchers have found artifacts from Native Americans dating back to 12,000 years ago.
Chris Judge is the Assistant Director for Native American studies at USC. “We are looking for evidence of prehistoric houses in the woodland period and we are now in a level that dates back to five thousand years ago,” Judge said.
Local to SC anyway.
