This came out over the EEF wires last night, but my internet connection crapped out: Largest Saqqara Tomb Discovered
An Egyptian team led by Dr. Zahi Hawass, chief of Egypt’s Supreme Council of Antiquities, has unearthed the largest tomb yet discovered in the ancient necropolis of Saqqara, also known as the “City of the Dead.”
Filled with skeletons, coffins and eagle mummies, the tomb was found just near the entrance point of the archaeological site.
Not much text, mostly photos. I suspect they aren’t eagles, but falcons or hawks (this story says they are falcons). Kind of a lot of confusion over just what is there, so this will no doubt be amended later.
UPDATE: SCA press release. Says there are coffins and skeletons. Still mentions “eagles” though.
