Been kind of AWOL lately, largely due to Xmas festivities (not) and lack of adequate sleep most of the time.
My one archaeological-related gift was a new field camera. The one I took to Egypt crapped out due to sand/due within the first two weeks so I now have a toughened one that is supposed to be both water- and dust-proof. It’s got a few limitations — no macro setting, no lens covering — but the lack of moving parts makes up for much of that. This one can be dunked with no problem and shouldn’t have any problem with blowing sand and dust. And it’s portable enough for slipping into my dig back or backpack.
Of course, this will necessarily result in my getting a health-related office job. . . . .
