Update from the field

Filed under: Egypt, Field photos — acagle @ 7:45 am

First full day out on site. Well, at camp, part of the day actually on site. We spent the morning getting our permissions and junk and then headed out to the site for a look around. Very hot, very deserty, not a tree or shrub in the vicinity. I hope it cools down soon. Lots of mud brick structures and a couple of temples. We also toured the old U Michigan field house built in the 1930s and I located the bathroom:

You can maybe make out a resident dove with a nest at the top of the tank.

We start actually working tomorrow, leaving the camp at (ugh) 5 am. That’s early even for ME. Will have photos of the actual site tomorrow, I hope.
