[censored] History Crushes

o the men and women that stay up with you on those late, assiduous nights, coaxing you into an awe. They’ll sleep with you after you flip through the pages of their stories. They’ll never disappoint you or make you feel awkward. And let’s face it, you’ve already stalked their lives.

History never looked so attractive.

Randomish historical post to enjoy. I got there by means of the Nellie Bly post (“And then…just to confirm her position as a hardcore badass, she reported on the front. And not the Western Front, the Eastern front, where people were sent for ballsing up.”) by way of Michelle Branch’s site which I got to by way of The Wreckers’ web site.

It was a strange journey. I mean, I like Michelle Branch’s music — AND I LIKED IT BEFORE I FOUND OUT HOW FREAKIN’ HAWT SHE WAS — and then Pandora coughed up one by The Wreckers who I then discovered was Branch’s project. I’ve been experimenting with some country music lately, ever since. . .actually, been a few years coming. I’ve been liking some of the more rock-oriented stuff like Lady Antebellum and then The Band Perry did “If I Die Young” which is a rather morbidly charming little song, with the added bonus of having a Tennyson connection in the video.

I did quite like the music from Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, and kind of grew up with Hank Williams and Johnny Cash from my Dad (although he mostly preferred big band stuff), but never really got into the country-and-western genre. Still, I’m liking a lot of stuff coming out these days.
