Mac update

Filed under: Modern artifacts — acagle @ 7:17 pm

Actually sort of an Apple update: Now, while Mac people still irritate me to no end, I’m developing a health respect for Apple. Have had few problems with the iPod Touch, iMac, or iPad, but the Air’s hinges were breaking down so I took it to the local Apple store. Said they’d fix it for $280 total (probably), which I thought was fine seeing as it was a hand-me-down anyway. Coincidentally, it had also started freezing on bootup recently.

So I get it back, and they not only replaced the hinges but also the motherboard, hard drive, and a bunch of other small related items as well. For $280! So I basically got a completely refurbished Macbook Air for a scratch over $300. So good on them.

I say “probably” above because apparently the $280 is their flat rate for repair on out of warranty items, provided they’re not broken from abuse — which this arguably wasn’t (it’s kinda beat up, but not in ways that would have caused the hinges to fail — probably).
