Since everybody in the rest of the country is either goofing around outside or out of power. . . .
However, I shall be doing some work today. . . .OUTSIDE. Summer’s finally here, free at last, FREE AT LAST!
Yes, the sun is out and the forecast is for several days of sun sun SUN and approaching 80 degrees. I think that’s the first 80 we’ll have reached this year so far. And I shall spend at least some of today and the rest of the week out gathering data at the cemetery. . . .with the new iPad app!
It’s had its ups and downs, the iPad. Still harder to read than the Palm — the screen just isn’t as bright, I think, nor is the contrast — and it actually seems slower to operate. The screen is difficult to read in bright light because of the glare/reflection, but I’ve ordered an anti-glare matte screen protector for it. And it’s heavier, obviously, which means a sore arm after a while, although I’ve been getting around that some by not always holding it up as I’m going between markers.
Sadly, I lost a bunch of data the other day by copying — somehow, I still don’t know how — the unmodified base database over the modified iPad’s data. Grrrrrr. Fortunately it was only an hour or so’s work so I could re-do it in not a whole lot of time. Simpler, but not as goof-proof as the old Pendragon method.
